We stayed for our wedding this weekend, decor a little dated and some peeling wall paper, but it was clean spacious and comfortable. The staff were absolutely incredible, we had a bit of a blip with one of the bookings not being sent through by Groupon, but they were soo helpful and made sure everyone had a room to sleep in. And we're amazing with a very panicked bride (me) when we figured out a booking went missing (not there fault at all) The chef in the morning was fantastic brought out coffee for us in the bar before we sat down for breakfast, and breakfast was absolutely amazing, everyone commented on how the mushrooms stole the show. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, super helpful, friendly and accommodating, offering us a spare space to get ready for my wedding day. You really helped to make our wedding weekend special, thank you all so much.

Right from the start we were made to feel welcome, nice quirky place excellently located on the edge of the moors offered great views and a good area to explore,. we went a little ways up the hill and sat on some rocks and enjoyed a fantastic sunset. Room was clean and well presented and staff especially Sudeep were extra attentive without being intrusive and were genuinely lovely people. Couldn't do enough for you. Breakfasts well presented and individually cooked to your order. Make sure you try the Neapalese pork curry if you are lucky to stay incorporating a Wednesday as it is amazing and in the top three currys we have ever had. Well worth the stay and we will be back for sure. Thank you Sudeep and team.

The Moorland is a great hotel, perfect for Dartmoor walks, individual and very well cared for. Agatha Christie wrote her first novel here in 1916 and you can easily imagine her staying. We returned for our first 2024 visit and I had mushroom curry for dinner. It was so delicious that I went to find out who cooked it. I was surprised to find it was Madan, a wonderful chef recently arrived from Nepal. A Nepalese curry in the middle of Dartmoor ! How superb ! In fact the whole team are Nepalese. The quality of service is excellent, the care and consideration of guests exemplary. We will of course be going back soon. Many thanks to everybody especially Sudeep.

Lovely location, staff very friendly and good food. I had to arrive later than planned and rang ahead to enquire about food service, they took my order over the phone (so I didn’t miss it) and then bought it up to the room after I checked in, also included a complimentary brownie as I’d had a bit of trauma and it was my bday. Food was fab and very reasonable. Lovely location for the moor, was there to compete the dog in a race near Plymouth and was a very dog friendly hotel as well.

Lovely stay. Comfortable room with nice size bathroom overlooking the moorland. Also had a fridge & wardrobe & dressing table with tea & coffee. We have stayed before as were visiting family then too & was lovely back then also. Nothing too much for the staff who are friendly & polite. We took our dog who was also very welcome & the breakfast that was included in the price was really good too, even given extra toast! Will stay there again!
